About Royal Station Hotel

The Royal Station Hotel was built for the North Eastern Railway alongside Newcastle Central Station, to designs by Thomas Prosser that developed earlier drawings by John Dobson, and it was extended later in the Victorian period. Historic England lists the building at Grade II. The interior keeps its period features, including a grand central staircase and ornate public rooms, which is the reason the hotel leans on its Victorian character. It is now part of the Cairn Hotel Group and remains one of the closest hotels to the station concourse. The hotel publishes ten event spaces for up to 180 guests, and festive parties are run through its Collingwood Suite booking pages. The 2026 programme lists a Black and Gold Christmas Ball on 28 November and 5, 12 and 19 December from £45.50 a head, with three courses, fizz on arrival, half a bottle of wine, chair covers, a disco and 10 per cent off drinks between 6pm and 7pm. Friday Tinsel and Tunes nights are £39.50, Thursday Throwdown nights £35.50, Monday to Wednesday parties £25.50, and Christmas Day lunch £89.50. Central Station and its Metro interchange are directly outside.
