About Malmaison Newcastle

Malmaison Newcastle occupies a Grade II listed former Co-operative Wholesale Society warehouse on the Quayside, a conversion rather than a new build, and the hotel runs to 122 rooms and suites. Chez Mal Brasserie and Bar sits on the ground floor, and the riverside setting is the main draw: the Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a short walk east, with the Baltic and the Glasshouse International Centre for Music on the opposite bank and the Tyne Bridge immediately upriver. The Quayside Sunday market and the Law Courts are both within a couple of minutes. Three private spaces are published: Mal One, the largest, seats 50 for dinner or holds 80 for a drinks reception; the Private Dining Room seats 20 or holds 40 standing; and the Château Lounge takes 30 for a reception. The festive list for 2026 prices a three-course Celebrations menu in Chez Mal from £34.95 a head between 18 November and 24 December, private dining from £42.50 including room hire, menu and crackers, or from £62.50 with fizz and half a bottle of wine. Christmas Day lunch is £149, festive lunches and afternoon tea £35. Central Station is about a 15 minute walk uphill.
