About Crowne Plaza Newcastle - Stephenson Quarter
The Crowne Plaza is a modern, purpose-built hotel in the Stephenson Quarter, the railway-era district immediately south of Newcastle Central Station. It has 251 bedrooms, including accessible and family rooms, alongside Hawthorns Restaurant, which serves contemporary local cooking, and The Gin Bar, which specialises in premium gins and gin cocktails. The Mineral House Spa adds an indoor heated pool, gym and beauty treatment rooms. The hotel puts the city centre and Gateshead Quayside about five minutes away, with the Utilita Arena, St James' Park and the Life Science Centre all within walking distance. There are nine flexible event spaces. The largest, the Stephenson Suite, takes between 60 and 500 delegates depending on layout, with 360 for banqueting and 300 cabaret, while the smallest rooms start at around 26 square metres. Festive bookings for December 2026 run mainly on Fridays and Saturdays: shared parties from 10 guests at £46 a head in the evening, or £41 for a party lunch, each with arrival drinks, three courses and a DJ. Private hire starts at 70 guests, the balance falls due 28 days out, and Central Station is a short walk. The adjoining Stephenson Quarter multi-storey car park gives access at level 10.
