About Newcastle High School for Girls

Newcastle High School for Girls is the city's principal independent girls' school and part of the Girls' Day School Trust, the national network of girls' schools. It was formed from the merger of Central Newcastle High School and Church High School and educates girls from nursery and early years right through to the sixth form, on its site on Tankerville Terrace in Jesmond. The school emphasises academic ambition alongside a wide programme of sport, music, drama and enrichment, in a setting designed specifically around girls' education.
