Newcastle College is one of the largest further-education colleges in the country and the anchor of NCG, a national college group. Its main Rye Hill campus sits just off Scotswood Road at the western edge of the city centre, within walking distance of Grainger Town, and it offers an enormous range of post-sixteen study: vocational courses and T Levels, apprenticeships, adult and part-time provision, and higher-education programmes taught in partnership with universities. Specialist facilities span engineering, construction, digital, health, sport, aviation and the performing arts.

For students living centrally the college is an easy walk or short Metro and bus ride, and it draws learners from across Tyneside and beyond. Entry requirements vary by course, from entry-level programmes through to Level 3 and higher-education qualifications, and the college runs regular open events where prospective students can tour the facilities and talk to tutors. It is a natural route for anyone wanting a vocational or technical path rather than a traditional school sixth form.
