About Gosforth Leisure Centre
Gosforth Leisure Centre sits on Regent Farm Road in Gosforth, a short walk from Regent Centre Metro station and an easy hop north of the city centre by Metro. It is one of the council's larger swimming venues, operated on its behalf by Better, and reopened after a refurbishment with an open weekend in July 2026. For families north of the centre it is the natural local pool, and its two-pool layout makes it well suited to lessons and confidence building as well as serious lane work. The centre has a 25-metre main pool for lane swimming and a separate learner pool for children and beginners, with the smaller pool used for lessons and family sessions through the day. Alongside the water there is a gym with cardio and resistance equipment and a programme of fitness classes. Opening hours run from early morning to late evening on weekdays with shorter weekend hours, and the pools operate on published timetables that split public swim, lane swim and lesson time, so it is worth checking the day's schedule before setting off. Its Metro connection makes it a realistic option for city-centre residents without a car.
