About The Botanist
The Botanist is a large, plant-filled bar and restaurant on the upper floor of Monument Mall, part of the New World Trading Company group but very much pitched at Newcastle's busy Monument crowd. The room is built around a central bar wrapped in foliage, with a menu of botanical, herb- and fruit-forward cocktails served alongside sharing boards and hanging-kebab mains. It is one of the more reliably lively spaces in the centre, with regular live music adding to the atmosphere at weekends.
Its position directly above Monument Metro makes it one of the easiest bars in the city to reach and to leave, and the generous space and group-friendly menu make it a common choice for birthdays, work nights out and larger bookings. As a branch of a national group it offers a more polished, predictable experience than the city's independents, but the greenhouse styling and cocktail focus give it a distinct identity on the Monument stretch.
