About Northern Stage
Northern Stage is a producing theatre at Barras Bridge, next to Newcastle University and a short walk from Haymarket Metro. It makes and hosts a year-round programme of drama, family shows and Christmas productions, and its building includes a cafe bar open to everyone. The box office is open Monday to Friday from midday to 4pm and an hour before each performance.
Its Taking Part programme for young people includes Young Creatives, a free after-school group for 13 to 17-year-olds exploring set design, technical theatre, props, costume and directing, with a free show ticket included, plus short courses in directing, design and technical theatre for the same age group. Courses run in blocks during the school year and need an application, and the theatre also offers work experience for 14 to 18-year-olds and schools visits.
