Westway Veterinary Hospital

The West Road veterinary hospital for the independent Westway group, open 24 hours a day for routine care and emergencies.

About Westway Veterinary Hospital

Westway Veterinary Hospital sits on the West Road in Fenham, a couple of miles out from Grey Street along the old Roman line into the city, and is the hospital hub of the independent Westway Veterinary Group. Unlike most local surgeries it is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, with vets and nurses on site overnight rather than referring emergencies elsewhere, which makes it the practice many Newcastle owners fall back on when a problem strikes in the evening or at the weekend. The building runs separate dog and cat hospital wards alongside an in-house laboratory, dental suite and radiology and imaging suites, so investigations and surgery that a small branch would have to send away can be handled under one roof.

As well as the round-the-clock hospital work it provides the everyday services owners expect: vaccinations, neutering, microchipping, dentistry, health checks and routine surgery, with a health-plan scheme to spread the cost of preventive care. Westway runs a network of neighbourhood branches across Newcastle and the wider North East that feed into the West Road hospital for anything more involved, so a pet registered at a local surgery still has the hospital behind it. There is a client car park on site and step-free public access. For city-centre residents without their own transport it is a short bus ride west along the West Road.
