About Redhouse

Redhouse occupies one of the old merchant buildings on Sandhill, the historic corner of the Quayside beneath the Castle Keep and the High Level Bridge, and describes itself as one of the city's oldest and most characterful pub venues. The interior keeps the exposed beams and dark timber of the building, and the pavement terrace outside looks along the river towards the Tyne Bridge, which makes it one of the better outdoor spots in the centre on a decent afternoon.

The house speciality is pie, mash and peas, with classics including steak and Newcastle Brown Ale, mince and onion, and chicken, leek and ham, washed down with a pint of ale. A Sunday roast runs alongside the pies at the weekend, with food served from late morning through the afternoon rather than stopping sharply at three, which makes it one of the more forgiving options in the city centre for a late Sunday lunch. It is dog friendly, and part of the Vaulkhard Group.
