About Pink Lane Bakery

Pink Lane Bakery has traded on the narrow lane running beside Newcastle Central Station since 2012 and is the most obvious answer in the city centre to the question of where to buy a decent loaf. The counter is built around sourdough, with pastries and cakes alongside a substantial savoury range of sausage rolls, pies, pasties and made-up sandwiches, and there is a vegan and vegetarian selection running through both. It also takes orders for personalised birthday and celebration cakes, and does wedding cakes by arrangement.

The bakery now runs three shops, the Pink Lane original plus branches in Gosforth and on Acorn Road in Jesmond, with all three opening Monday to Saturday from eight in the morning until four in the afternoon and closing on Sunday. Popular lines go well before closing, so the earlier in the day the better. One point regularly confused by visitors: Pink Lane Bakery is a separate business from Pink Lane Coffee further along the same street, with no connection between the two beyond the address.
