About Ouseburn Trust

The Ouseburn Trust is the charity that looks after the heritage and natural environment of the Ouseburn Valley, just east of the Quayside, from its base on Lime Street. It runs tours of the Victoria Tunnel, the 19th-century wagonway beneath the city, organises the Ouseburn Festival and works with the council and nature, community and health organisations to care for the valley's mostly council-owned green spaces: river, woodland, meadows, scrub and planted beds.

Its environment volunteers work in small groups led by a Lead Volunteer or the Environment Project Officer, cutting back hedges, clearing paths and steps and litter picking. Sessions are drop-in, on Thursdays from 2pm to 3pm, Saturdays from 10am to midday and, from April to September, Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8pm, with gloves and tools provided. Volunteers are asked to register on the Trust's website first. The Trust is also building a community composting area in the Ouseburn woodland with Ouseburn Farm and Wild Roots Community Garden.
