Forth Street Fish and Chips is a takeaway in one of the railway arches on Forth Street, in the strip of converted arches between Central Station and the river. There is nothing to it beyond a fryer and a counter, and no seating, which is what most people actually want from a chip shop. It is the closest thing Newcastle city centre has to a traditional counter fry.

It holds the top food hygiene rating from its most recent inspection and it stays open later than anything else on this list, until around eleven Monday to Thursday and closer to midnight on a Friday and Saturday, with a later Saturday opening. It has very little review footprint online, so it is worth knowing for what it is and where it is, rather than as a destination: a proper fry within a few minutes' walk of the station platforms.
