About Dobson & Parnell

Dobson & Parnell occupies 21 Queen Street, the address where Terry Laybourne's original 21 Queen Street made its name in the late 1980s and helped turn the regenerated Quayside into a dining destination. The restaurant takes its title from John Dobson and William Parnell, two of the architects whose work shaped nineteenth-century Newcastle, and the room reflects that: bright, unfussy and comfortable rather than showy, a minute's walk from the river.

The kitchen cooks modern British food from seasonal produce, with a separate seasonal lunch menu that represents good value against the evening carte. Sunday service runs from midday to five and pairs that lunch menu with the restaurant's much-liked Sunday roast, which makes it a practical choice for a table where not everybody wants the full roast. It is also noticeably quieter on a Sunday than the bars a few doors down towards the Quayside.
