About Chaophraya Newcastle
Chaophraya occupies the rooftop level of Grey's Quarter at Eldon Square, directly opposite Grey's Monument, and serves modern Thai cooking that mixes classic dishes with the kitchen's own signatures. The a la carte runs from Thai chicken tacos, satay and spicy crispy duck salad through to curries and wok dishes, with separate vegan, gluten-free and children's menus. The room opens onto a rooftop terrace that is covered when the weather turns, plus a Thai Garden space and a bar that works on a first-come basis. Open daily, noon until 10pm. Groups enquire through the private dining page. Sharing set menus, which festive bookings must take, are priced per person with a minimum of two: Nan at £50, Yom at £55 and Wang at £65. Named spaces include Group Dining in semi-private areas, the Monument Terrace with optional cover and exclusive access to the private dining room and outdoor balcony, the Thai Garden, and exclusive use of the whole restaurant. Parties of nine or fewer hold a table on card details, while ten or above pay a £10 per person deposit and are confirmed with an event manager. Monument Metro is directly below.
