Quay Ingredient

Small independent breakfast cafe tucked beneath the Tyne Bridge arch on Queen Street, known for its eggs Benedict variations.

About Quay Ingredient

Quay Ingredient sits on Queen Street, literally beneath the arch of the Tyne Bridge where it lands on the Newcastle bank, a few steps up from the Quayside itself. It is a small room run by an independent team, open daily through the morning and early afternoon rather than into the evening, and it has built a strong following on breakfast rather than on coffee alone.

The menu is where its reputation sits: multiple eggs Benedict variations including Florentine, a Montreal version, a Hebridean with black pudding and a Toulouse sausage version with fried onions, alongside French toast and substantial sandwiches, all made in house. Because it is small and does not take large bookings, weekend mornings involve a wait, and going early is the sensible plan. It combines well with a walk along the Quayside or the Sunday market under the bridge.
