About NE1 Ltd
NE1 Ltd is the Business Improvement District company for Newcastle city centre, based at Milburn House on Dean Street. Its fourth term runs from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2029, after a 93% yes vote by city centre businesses in autumn 2023.
Businesses in the BID area with a rateable value of £20,000 or more pay a levy of 1.5% of rateable value, collected by Newcastle City Council. The money funds projects including better lighting, street cleaning, green spaces, crime reduction, events, transport and accessibility, marketing, networking and inward investment.
