Dabbawal High Bridge
City-centre branch of the Mumbai street food restaurant, on a cobbled lane just off Grey Street.
About Dabbawal High Bridge
Dabbawal brought Mumbai-style Indian street food to Newcastle, starting in Jesmond and opening this city-centre branch on High Bridge, the narrow cobbled lane off Grey Street, around 2010. The menu is built around small plates, chaat, tandoori grills and larger dishes meant to be ordered in multiples and shared across the table, with strong vegetarian options.
The room is casual and relaxed rather than formal, and its position a few minutes from the Theatre Royal makes it a popular pre-theatre choice. Weekends get busy, so booking ahead is sensible.
