Amblergem Jewellers occupies unit 79 on Alley 2 of the Grainger Market, and is run by Paul and Angela Taylor, who took the stall on in 2015. The shop sells gold and silver jewellery across the usual range of rings, chains, earrings and pendants, but a large part of the trade is service work: repairs, restringing, resizing, restoration of older or inherited pieces, watch battery replacement and strap fitting. Paul is a working goldsmith with more than thirty years at the bench, and the significant point for customers is that most jobs are done in-house rather than sent away, which keeps turnaround short and prices below what a High Street chain would quote for the same work.

Bespoke commissions are a steady part of the business, with customers bringing in stones, damaged heirlooms or an idea and working the design through with Paul directly. The pair have become a familiar presence in the market, and the informal, unhurried feel of the stall is part of the appeal for people who find a formal jeweller's showroom off-putting. Alley 2 runs between Clayton Street and Nun Street inside the Grade I listed market hall, so the stall sits among craft, clothing and food traders rather than in a retail parade. Opening is Monday to Saturday, with the unit closed on Sundays.
