About This Event
Saria Callas is a bold multimedia play about the longing to sing in a place where women are forbidden to. Moving between memory and the present, it follows Saria from a childhood in Tehran, through schoolbus parties and quiet acts of rebellion at an all-girls' school, to a crossroads in adulthood where she must decide how to support her own child's struggle with gender identity, having lived through the repression of her own body and voice. Staged in Northern Stage's intimate Stage 3, the production runs a taut hour and five minutes without an interval and is recommended for ages 14 and over. Tickets start from £12, making it an accessible chance to catch challenging, intersectional new writing.
