Opera North brings Femi Elufowoju Jr's acclaimed staging of Verdi's Rigoletto to the Theatre Royal for three evenings.

Opera North returns to Newcastle Theatre Royal with Verdi's Rigoletto, the story of a court jester who entertains a corrupt, entitled elite by day while living a secret life as a devoted father. When those two worlds collide, vengeance and a family curse drive the story to tragedy. Femi Elufowoju Jr's staging has been praised by critics as a bold, innovative and purposeful re-imagining. It is sung in Italian with English titles and runs about 2 hours 40 minutes including an interval. The production carries a PG guide and contains flashing lights and scenes of violence. The Friday 6 November performance is audio described, with a pre-show touch tour.
