About This Event

The city's annual Christmas Market transforms the heart of Newcastle into a festive shopping destination, with more than seventy traders setting up across Grey Street, Grainger Street, Nelson Street and the area around Grey's Monument. The overwhelming majority of the stallholders are based within twenty miles of the city centre, keeping the emphasis firmly on regional makers, food producers and gift sellers, including familiar faces from the nearby Grainger Market. Alongside the stalls, the wider festive offer includes a Christmas Village at Old Eldon Square, a North Pole Terrace with cosy igloo pods, alpine-style bars and a programme of family entertainment such as Santa Stories and live performances. Admission is free and the market runs daily from mid-November through to just before Christmas, with extended evening opening Monday to Saturday. It is an easy addition to a city-centre shopping trip and sits within a short walk of the Monument and Central Station Metro stops.
